Miss Mackenzie

Miss Mackenzie, by English author Anthony Trollope, first published in 1865, is a sprawling tale of romance, ambition, and class stratification. After caring for her disabled brother Walter and her ailing father for the majority of her adult life. When her brother passes away, Miss Mackenzie—a single woman in her mid-thirties—receives a sizable bequest. She must then handle the responsibilities that come with the riches, which include a number of suitors who might or might not be only pursuing her money.
